THE HANSEN FAMILY IN THE MONSTERCHILDREN MAG!

We were hanging out at a surfshop in Laguna (Thalia, a great shop!)when one of my friends said "Gesa, you're in the new Monsterchildren Issue!". I didn't know that, it was such a cool surprise! The Australian based Magazine just had their launchparty for the american issue last week in L.A.

SIT AND READ AT UNIS

For the Nolita shop, Sit and Read’s Kyle Garner has handpicked a selection of vintage chairs and reupholstered them in remnant fabrics from Unis’ Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The pieces are, understandably, limited. As the relationship progresses, Sit and Read will continue to offer changing pieces at the Unis Flagship.

THE HANSEN FAMILY LOVES … CARIBOU

The new Caribou LP Swim came out and it's gorgeous! The sound is addicting.
Check out the myspace

I'M HERE BY SPIKE JONZE

I saw the film already a while ago in Paris but it's no online with a limit of 30 viewers per day. The website is kind of slow but I love the film, take a moment to watch it … even if the female part is very selfish in my eyes. Here is the link

LUNCH AT PARKERS, PALM SPRING

Bravo Jonathan Adler for this piece, it's simply an amazing hiding space with a huge garden and excellent style. I don't want to go home anymore!

When you are tired from jumping around at Coachella this is the prefect place to recover. With plenty of my favourite chairs in the garden (the butterfly chair) and bertoia chairs on the terrace of the hotel's restaurant NORMA the PARKER is definately one of my favourites in Palm Spring.

THE HANSEN FAMILY LOVES … THE ACE HOTEL

Another great hotel where my Friend Ebenezer Bond stayed without that either him or I noticed that we were in the same city. I checked it out while we were having lunch there on friday; I can't believe we were at the same place and didn't see each other.

The hotel is so cool, it was designed by Commune Design and was recently renovated from a 1965 Howard Johnson motor Lodge. Entirely solar-powered (thanks to the 354 days of sunshine the Springs receive per year), the hotel is a lot more than just a sepia-toned, rough and ready take on the design hotel. I definately will stay there when exhibiting on the ICFF in New York. Here is their website

ICONS SURFSHOP, SAN CLEMENTE

We found the Valhal of surfers, with Mollusk Surfshop this is one of the best shops I've ever been to. Gil Delapointe showed it to us when we visited him at Dana Point!

THE HANSEN FAMILY LOVES … THERESA MARTINSON & THOMAS BRODAHL

I was invited by Theresa Martinson and Thomas Brodahl (founder of the blog Surfstation) to do an interview about Hansen Family for the blog in their house in Venice. I'm so glad that I was too chaotic to look up his work before I met him, I would have been much more intimidated. Here is just one of his projects called Tattooday :

"Every day I’m gonna draw/write a saying or lyric or phrase on my arm. Document it here. They will be like temporary tattoos. Hopefully the sayings will stick in my mind if I look at them all day. Maybe the meaning of the words will also sink into my body, along with the ink."

I love his StatAttak-T-Shirts!

You should stop by his blog and the Stolen Good(ie)s website to see the other stuff :

We're so glad we met you guys!

Borrego Springs…

We are in Borrego Springs in "The Palms at Indian Head", an ancient resort that didn't change since the fifties and was a favorite hideaway for Hollywood stars who wanted to escape andrel ax, including Marilyn Monroe, Bing Crosby, Leo Carrillo, John Wayne … and now us.

The hotel is simply awesome, it's like a flashback. And since it's not crowdy at all (the owners asked us several times how we managed to find the place and we were about the only guests) you can really pretend to timetravel. The rooms are still like in the fifties with a modern twist and you go to sleep with the noise of the coyotes. If you want to hide here is their website
